My neighbours are Chinese, sometimes they’re a bit strange… In Madrid people thought I was Romanian, because no one knew the difference between Budapest and Bucharest. My boss is American, sometimes he’s too informal for my liking. The other day a man with a white stick asked me to help him cross the road. My daughter is dating a Roma boy.

These kinds of observations are becoming more and more familiar in Hungary today. But this is what the future holds. We travel more, work with people from foreign cultures, and live together with different kinds of people from all walks of life. To navigate through this modern world, we sometimes need to adapt.

The goal of our foundation is to bring people from different countries and cultural backgrounds closer together – or at least to help them become more understanding of the differences that make our world go round. If we can free ourselves of our prejudices we become more open towards other cultures and their acceptance, and we can conquer the common natural instinct to marginalize and “shut out” other people.
How open or accepting are you of other peoples? You can find out by completing our quizzes here or here .
